HS 225 - History of Gender and Sexuality(3/3) Prerequisites: EN 100 or EN 101 –– This course explores the development of concepts of gender and sexuality in Europe, with some discussion of the United States, from ancient Mesopotamian civilizations to the present. The course will focus on how and why gender was constructed, while examining the general history of women and the family. Students will learn about the construction of masculinity and femininity and its implication to a variety of disciplines, as well as the interplay between politics, race, class, sexuality, and gender in history.
