Pre-English Literature, A.A. (General Transfer)

Academic Program Code: 522

We study literature to understand how it tells the story of what it means to be human and to affirm the connections we share with humanity across geography, language, and ages. Literature students develop critical skills of analysis, research, reflection, and expository and creative writing: such skills offer personal and professional value, preparing the student for success in any academic discipline or professional career. In addition to graduate and professional school, among the paths students can consider are a career in academia; publishing; law; advertising; editing; politics; information science; advocacy; political analysis; intelligence; and writing, to name a few.

Declaring a pre-major in Literature puts students on a path to an Associate of Arts degree from GRCC and transfer to a four-year institution to major in English or literature.
