The GRCC academic program offerings include: Pathway Programs, Transfer Programs, Career Programs, and Career + Transfer Programs.  Each of these offerings prepares students in a slightly different way!

Pathway Programs

The Pathway Programs are designed to help students who are deciding on their academic and career goals to identify an area of interest.  They are also designed for students who are interested in transferring to a college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree in an area where GRCC does not have an academic program.  These programs can be customized to meet individual student’s needs.  They also allows students to fulfill general education and graduation requirements at GRCC and transfer to a 4-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree.

Guidelines for following a pathway programs
  • To best help students reach their academic and career goals, the coursework in each Pathway Program has been organized into three “Priorities.” The Priorities help students to identify in order in which they should take the courses within each Pathway Program.

  • When possible, students should complete the courses in the Priorities in order; if, however, a course is not available or does not fit the student’s schedule, they may select a course from one of the other Priorities.

  • Students should evaluate whether they are ready to move into a specific GRCC academic program at the end of every semester.

  • If a student decides to move from the Pathway Program into a specific academic program, they should complete a Declaration of Academic Program form located in the student Online Center.

  • If GRCC does not have an academic program that aligns with the student’s desired transfer institution, student should remain in the Pathway Degree program and meet with a GRCC advisor or faculty member to map out their coursework.

  • If a student decides that their Pathway Program no longer meets their academic goals, they should look into GRCC’s other Pathway Programs and meet with an advisor to discuss their goals; to declare a new Pathway Program, students should complete a Declaration of Academic Program form, located in the student Online Center.

Career Programs

Career Programs are designed to prepare students for employment or advancement in a specific career field.  These programs are not intended for transfer.

Transfer Programs

Transfer Programs are designed to prepare students to transfer to a college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree.  These programs focus on prerequisite coursework for particular majors at a 4-year institution.  Some Transfer Programs have articulation agreements, formal agreements that guarantee the transfer of courses to a college or university if minimum grades and other requirements are met.

Career + Transfer Programs

Career + Transfer Programs are designed both to prepare students for entry into specific careers and to transfer to a college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree.  Some Career + Transfer Programs have articulation agreements, formal agreements that guarantee the transfer of courses to a college or university if minimum grades and other requirements are met.
