CD 209 - Creative and Language Arts for Preschoolers

Prerequisites: 1. Successful completion of with CD 118 a grade of C or better 2. Students enrolled in CD 209 must undergo a Criminal Background Check and a Department of Human Services Central Registry Check. Being convicted of ANY FELONY, any of the listed offenses as defined by MCL 28.722 (Sex Offenders Registration Act; Act 295 of 1994), or being listed on the Michigan Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry will result in refusal of lab placement and removal from the course. Complete policy information is provided on the GRCC Website. This course teaches methods for engaging preschoolers in play, creative and language arts. Best practices, culturally and developmentally appropriate assessments, materials and activities are explored in the college classroom and then planned and implemented at the GRCC Lab Preschool. Each student is assigned a lab instructor who models, supports, and evaluates teaching and learning in the preschool classroom. Three hours lecture and two hours of lab participation at the GRCC Lab Preschool are required weekly.
