BI 206 - Field Studies at Pierce Cedar Creek Institute(3/4) Prerequisites: BI 151 or BI 152 or BI 153 or BI 154 or an equivalent course as approved by the Instructor or Department Head. Instructor/Departmental approval is required. This field course introduces students to the biodiversity, natural history, and ecology of living organisms of Pierce Cedar Creek Institute (PCCI) through lecture, laboratory, and field-based activities. An integrated approach to field biology allows students to investigate areas of special interest and research. Participation in 4 hours of lecture prior to the field station experience at PCCI, a synoptic collection, quizzes, and a practical exam will be required of students. Room and three meals per day are included in the total cost of this course. Recommended: Physical ability to participate in hiking and strenuous outdoor activity for several hours per day. - Ability to work collaboratively. - College level proficiency in reading and comprehending scientific material, as well as lucid writing.
