College Level Prerequisites: None Description: CHM 230 is designed for students requiring a one semester course in organic and biochemistry. Topics include biologically significant classes of organic compounds and their reactions, classes of biological compounds including carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, enzymes, vitamins, nucleic acids, biochemical energy production and metabolism (carbohydrate, lipid and protein). This course may be required by four-year degree programs in nursing and allied health professions. Students should verify which chemistry courses are needed for their specific transfer programs.
