Description
Students study, in detail, refrigeration system components and their operation. Emphasis is placed on all temperature ranges of equipment using different refrigerant types. Students fabricate a complete refrigeration system from individual components.

Calculate superheat of suction line and sub-cooling of liquid refrigerant.
Develop a process to test thermostatic expansion valves and proper compressor operation and replacement.
For refrigeration, evacuate and charge the system and reclaim/recycle materials.
Fabricate a basic refrigeration system.

The instructor should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Trade Technical Education or equal. Two (2) years trade work experience and have the ability to pass at least 2 categories of trade competency exams. ICE, NATE, RSES-CM or is a Mechanical Contractor licensed in the classifications to be taught. Refer to the State for Michigan license Classification codes.
