ANE 241 - Anesthesia Technology Pharmacology Description This course focuses on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs used in administering anesthesia and analgesia. Topics covered will include routes of administration, drug interactions, drug metabolism, elimination, and the various classes of anesthetic agents. Intravenous therapy and emergency medications will also be covered. 1. Describe the principles of pharmacokinetics.
2. Differentiate between opioid and non-opioid medications.
3. Identify the different inhalation and intravenous anesthetics.
4. Describe the various routes of drug administration.

- Pharmacokinetics of intravenous medications associated with anesthesia
- Pharmacokinetics of Inhalation Anesthetics
- Commonly used Inhalation Anesthetics for general anesthesia procedures in and outside of the OR environment
- Intravenous induction agents in anesthesia care
- Local anesthetics used for nerve block and post-operative pain relief
- Review and Midterm Exam
- Opioid and Non-opioid analgesics, safe anesthesia practice, general sedation, and regional techniques
- Neuromuscular blocking agents
- Reversal agents and monitoring the patient effectively and safely
- Autonomic and cardiac pharmacology is necessary for preparing emergency anesthesia care
- Additional drugs of interest (Off site medications/Antiemetics/Anticoagulants)
- Review and Final Exam
