EXS 156 - CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuer Description The CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuer course meets the requirements of the American Red Cross. Both skill and written exams are administered to prepare and obtain certifications.

- Understand the importance of proper care, getting emergency teams to scene, and being aware of incident stress of responder and victim.
- Understand how diseases and illnesses lead to poor health, emergencies, blood borne pathogens, and how they are transmitted.
- Recognize the signs and symptoms associated with common diseases, illnesses, and emergenices and be able to respond appropriately following American Red Cross guidelines.
- Use equipment and PPE accurately and safely.
- Be able to physically demonstrate skills with proper form and technique.
- Recognize, care, and demonstrate how to perform primary assessment, physical skills of consious/unconsicous victims and reponsive/unresponsive victims in the areas of respiratory distress and arrest, cardiac distress and arrest, choking of conscious and unconcious victims, and various first aid skills.
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge and skills in the Before Care area, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer area, RTE First aid area, and additional First Aid skills as well as pass the required American Red Cross written exams with an 80% or higher in these areas of learning.
- Demonstrate compentency and full accuracy in blood borne pathogen training, asthma training, epi pen auto injector training, emergency oxygen, and concussion training.
- Use appropriate posture, gestures, eye contact, and vocal expressiveness to effectively communicate information.
- Clearly and completely state and describe a problem/issue.
