CVT 231 - Clinical Practicum III


Description
Continuation of content and clinical practice experiences designed for sequential application, integration, analysis, and evaluation of concepts and theories in invasive cardiovascular science. Clinical education participation will include commonly performed procedures and less frequently ordered interventional procedures. Emphasis will be on performing high risk cardiovascular procedures, entry-level practice for structural heart procedures, electrophysiology procedures, and alternating roles in scrubbing, documenting and circulating all procedures.

Course Outline:
 

Wk 1-12: Students will gain experience in the registered cardiovascular invasive
specialist roles in an asynchronous manner due to the variability of schedules
in each hospital ‘s invasive cardiovascular laboratory.

Students will rotate through all roles with a focus on scrubbing high risk procedures

and improving documentation skills.
Wk 13-15: Students will focus on an introduction into high risk structural
heart procedures, including left atrial appendage closures, mitral clips and
observing TAVR and TMVR procedures.
