CVT 130 - Clinical Practicum I Description This course provides an overview of the foundations of invasive cardiovascular science and the practitioner’s role relative to the hospital health care delivery system. The student will observe clinical practices in the cardiac catheterization lab and how the cardiac catheterization lab interacts with non-invasive cardiology, echocardiography, the emergency department, the preprocedural/recovery unit, and cardiac medical/surgical floors within the hospital. The student will also learn basic scrub and procedural techniques. - Categorize scrubbing, circulating, and control room duties in the invasive cardiovascular laboratory.
- Determine the impact of various hospital departmental services in the care of cardiovascular patients.

- Demonstrate knowledge of overcoming communication barriers.
- Show awareness of patient’s concerns related to the diagnostic procedure(s) being performed.
- Show awareness of patient’s concerns related to pathologic conditions and the associated functional changes.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness when working with patients and other members of the health care team
- Demonstrate knowledge of radiation protection and safety by using proper radiation safety protocols and equipment.
- Perform a 12-lead ECG.

| specialist roles in an asynchronous manner due to the variability of schedules |
