The focus of this course is on how drafting techniques are applied to plans, elevations, perspectives, and sketches for presentations.

  1. Solve interior design problems with creativity and sensitivity.
  2. Demonstrate basic understanding of plan drawings.
  3. Demonstrate basic understanding of elevation drawings.
  4. Demonstrate basic understanding of perspective drawings.
  5. Demonstrate sensitivity to drawing materials such as pencil, marker, and ink.
  6. Identify the use of CAD in designing floor plans, elevations, and perspectives.
  7. Demonstrate basic understanding of codes and standards that ensure human safety.
  8. Develop solutions to aesthetic and design problems through understanding of basic design principles and color theory.
  9. Objectively critique, verbally and in writing, one’s own artwork as well as the work of others.
  10. Participate effectively in classroom critiques and discussions.
  11. Develop and demonstrate self-discipline to manage work load through the coordination of various steps of the design process and be able to move back and forth between designs in various stages of completion.
  12. Cultivate and demonstrate an appreciation for aesthetics and diversity.

  14. Use creativity and alternative thinking to brainstorm new ideas and possible solutions to problems or issues.
