CIS 149 - Web Design I


Description
Students learn the basics of web design, with a focus on user experience, usability, and human-computer interaction. In a hands-on environment, students are exposed to design technique principals to design and develop web pages. In addition, students publish to a web server and analyze web site functionality. Students should have experience with the Internet, fundamental computer literacy and knowledge of a computer operating system prior to taking this course.

  1. Define the needs of component groups of users of a particular site.
  2. Apply user-experience based web design processes.
  3. Demonstrate the principles of text and composition, color, layout, and linkage design, and use of multimedia in a web site.
  4. Define the principles of effective, intuitive layout and design for web.
  5. Evaluate the role that navigational efficiency plays in well designed web sites.
  6. Define the roles of team members in a web site development team.
  7. Apply learned theory to practical web design and development.
  8. Demonstrate the ability to work independently on a project to develop, create and publish a site.
  9. Effectively organize communications ensuring there is a clear introduction and conclusion, the content is well sequenced, and there are appropriate transitions.
