WE 192 - Camping and Kayaking Description Basic camping skills are taught and experienced in this class. Topics include equipment selection and use; cooking over an open fire; water and camping safety; and kayaking strokes. This class includes a kayaking trip down a Michigan river with a two-day, one-night camping trip. 2. Students create a process for setting up and selecting their camping area, including pitching a tent.
3. Students demonstrate basic kayak paddling techniques for river.

5. Students work in teams to accomplish campground tasks.
6. Students demonstrate the ability to be physically active by camping, kayaking, participating in volleyball, and other team building activities.
7. Demonstrate safety first while kayaking.
8. Demonstrate safety first while camping.

This three hour class orientation will cover the elements of and outline our trip. During this time, students will be oriented to the campground we use, activities on the trip, and the exact timeline of events.
