Students learn the archival nature of the medium and practice exposure, development, and printing to create expressive, analog photographic images. 4. Develop black and white film using photographic chemistry and be able to analyze the resulting negatives.
5. Create proof sheets from black and white negatives.
6. Create archival photographic prints through enlarging and tray development, including the use of global and localized burning and dodging techniques for value and contrast control.
7. Prepare photographic images for display using museum standard finishing and mounting techniques.
8. Analyze and troubleshoot common problems in black and white analog photographic systems.
9. Recognize historical and contemporary aesthetic movements related to black and white analog photography.
