MUS 198 - Guitar Ensemble


Description
Membership by audition held at the beginning of the fall semester. The Guitar Ensemble studies and performs works from original and transcribed sources. Repertoire ranges from Renaissance through modern music. The ensemble has from 2 to 4 performances per semester. This course satisfies the major ensemble requirement for students who choose guitar as their major instrument.  It is recommended that students have skill with music reading on the guitar and a solid foundation in classical guitar technique prior to enrolling in this course.

Course Outline:
Week I. Listen individually to new members. Organize into section. Begin working on music. Learn the basics of following a conductor.

Weeks II-V. Work on Music for first performances. Teach and practice performance etiquette.

Week VI. First performance.

Weeks VII-XV. Work on new music for upcoming performances. Practice performance etiquette.

Week XVI. End of semester performance.
