Course Outline:
I. Reading, preparation, and performance of musical compositions appropriate to the instrumentation and playing ability of the Ensemble

II. Singing of chords for intonation, balance, and blend

III. Performance practice

IV. Performance deportment

V. Rhythmic accuracy, pat-clapping, and silent beat counting

The instructor must have a high degree of musicianship. The instructor must possess a past history of developing instrumental groups at both the high school and college levels. The instructor must possess a wealth of knowledge in instrumental pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, instrumental literature, group interaction, and organization. The conductor also should possess a minimum of a Master’s in Music or Music Education.
