GH 111 - Medical Terminology II - Language of Medicine Description This course equips members of the health care professions with a working knowledge of medical vocabulary, emphasizing anatomy and physiology, and deals specifically with each of the body systems and the diseases significant to them. Credit Hours: 2 Contact Hours: 2 Prerequisites/Other Requirements: GH 110 (C- or Higher) English Prerequisite(s):
- IRW 98 or above (C or above) OR
- SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing of 450 and above OR
- ACT English and Reading Combined Score of 31 and above (valid February 2018 forward) OR
- Accuplacer Writing of 5 and NextGen Reading of 249 and above (valid October 2018 forward) OR

- Identify, analyze, interpret, and explain medical words from the Greek and Latin prefixes, suffixes and combined forms.
- Recognize and understand clinical procedutes, laboratory tests and abbreviations that pertain to each body system.
- Identify and/or recognize pathological conditions and diseases related to each body system.
- Differentiate between the medical specialists pertaining to each body system.
- Effectively organize communications ensuring there is a clear introduction and conclusion, the content is well sequenced, and there are appropriate transitions.
- Create and/or organize data and information into meaningful patterns in order to interpret and draw inferences from it.
