DHY 242 - Advanced Instrumentation and Treatment Modalities Description This course focuses on building patient behavior modification techniques and increased proficiency in applying the dental hygiene process of care for patients. Students are introduced to advanced root instrumentation skills for nonsurgical periodontal therapy, providing a foundation for complicated periodontal cases. Continued application of self-assessment, personal goal setting, and problem solving strategies builds student proficiency in providing individualized comprehensive patient care. 4. Explain rationale and procedure for application of slow-release antimicrobials. (CODA Standard 2-3d)
5. Identify symptoms and theories of dentinal hypersensitivity and contrast these with symptoms of pulpal necrosis. (CODA standard 2-13)
6. Identify clinical strengths and weaknesses, patient management concerns through self-reflection, and completions of goal re-evaluation. (CODA Standard 2-20)
