This course is a continuation of AT 140 , plus a study of the clothed model, focusing on improving technical and compositional skills, using various black and white and color media.

1. Produce drawings that demonstrate skillful use of color and drawing techniques.

2. Demonstrate solutions to aesthetic and design problems through understanding of basic design principles, concepts, and media.

4. Objectively critique verbally and in writing one’s own artwork as well as those of others.

5. Demonstrate self-discipline to manage work load through the coordination of various steps of the drawing process and be able to move back and forth between drawings in various stages of completion.

6. Use creativity and alternative thinking to brainstorm new ideas and possible solutions to problems or issues.

7. Complete work accurately, with attention to detail. 
Course Outline:
I. Value: Shape, plane and volume, sphere and 6 categories of light, value scales, additive technique (render, parallel line, cross-hatch), additive and subtractive technique, exploration of materials using pencil, charcoal pencil, black and white color pencil

II. Space: Scale, perspective, aerial perspective, color

III. Synthesis: Narrative, appropriated imagery, concepts

IV. Portraiture: Measurement and Proportions of the Human Head

V. The Figure: Measurement and proportion of the Human Form in various contexts (backgrounds)

VI. Concept: Use of various sources for drawing imagery: masterpieces, magazines, the Internet, etc
