MUS 215 - Aural Comprehension III Description This course is an advanced continuation of the aural skills learned in MUS 116 . Emphasis is on singing, aural identification and dictation of scales, intervals, harmonic progressions, melodic patterns, rhythmic patterns, triads and seventh chords. Development of intermediate sight singing techniques as well as skills in notating performed melodic and harmonic musical examples also occurs. Additional Auralia practice hours are required each week. 2. Sing melodies containing the diatonic tritone in major and minor keys.
3. Sing or clap simple and compound rhythmic patterns using divisions of the beat into two and three parts, respectively.
4. Sing, play, or clap simple and compound rhythmic patterns using subdivisions of the beat into four and six parts, respectively.
5. Sing melodies containing any interval from the tonic and dominant triads and seventh chord in a major or minor tonality.
6. Notate, by ear, short melodies from music literature.
7. Notate, by ear, short melodies that contain sequential patterns.
8. Notate, by ear, short melodies that chromatic tones.
9. Notate, by ear, short melodies with two separate simultaneous melodic lines.
10. Identify and notate any harmonic interval within the major/minor tonal system.
11. Aurally distinguish between all types of triads within diatonic harmonic progressions.
12. Aurally identify dominant seventh and leading tone seventh chords within diatonic harmonic progressions.
13. Transcribe rhythmic patterns in simple and compound meters containing divisions and subdivisions of the beat value.
14. Transcribe triplet rhythmic patterns in simple meters.
15. Know and use active listening skills.
16. Create and/or organize data and information into meaningful patterns in order to interpret and draw inferences from it.

2. Rhythmic patterns in simple time with triplet division
