Corequisites: None Description: This course acquaints students with the basic concepts of X-ray physics and radiation safety. Included are determination of dosages and units of measure used, physical interaction of radiation with matter at the molecular, cellular, system, and genetic level. A study of the physical principles underlying generation of diagnostic radiation including operation of X-ray equipment, X-ray production, X-ray attenuation, and digital imaging processes. Throughout this course there is an emphasis on radiation protection of occupational workers and patients.
