Corequisites: None Description: Introductory Arabic is a continuation of the beginning-level course in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). MSA is the language used throughout the Arab world: the Middle East. Although dialects in each region differ, MSA unites all Arabs and allows them to communicate with each other. This course offers instruction and practice in the four language skills of reading, writing, listening, and speaking and introduces the pronunciation, vocabulary and basic grammar of MSA Arabic. Two dialects are taught alongside MSA, in cultural contexts, using realia, video, and readings, along with discussion about the Arab world (geography, lifestyles and attitudes).
