Corequisites: None Description: This course is a survey of the different genres of Jazz music beginning with its earliest origins and continuing through the development of various different styles. Students identify and discuss the historical and societal influences that contributed to the evolution of jazz. The study includes field hollers, blues, Dixieland, swing, bebop, cool, and other forms. No musical background is required.
