Corequisites: None Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the major themes and issues in African-American History from pre-contact through the modern era. Special attention is paid to the centrality of the African-American experience in American history, specifically to slavery, the creation of modern racism, civil rights, and segregation. Students engage in robust study of both cultural and historical evidence to demonstrate the agency of the common man and woman.
