Description: Macroeconomics is the study of the economy as a whole. The course begins by introducing the assumptions and core principles of economics. Then we will learn how unemployment, inflation, and economic growth are measured and how they relate to our economic goals. We will study how the government can influence the business cycle using fiscal and monetary policy. A model of the macroeconomy will be developed in order to study how these tools can work in different contexts and why there are different views about how the government should be involved. Students will use the skills learned to analyze current social issues from an economic perspective.
