Description: This course offers an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, exploring critical questions about the meaning of gender and sexuality in society. The primary goal of this course is to familiarize yourself with historical and contemporary issues as well as questions and debates in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies scholarship. This scholarship critically analyzes themes of performance and power in a range of social spheres such as culture, family, the state, work, medicine, education, and social policy, and examines how gender and sexuality intersect with other categories such as race, class, nationality, and ability.
