Corequisites: None Description: The best defense is prepared offense. In this introductory personal defense course we will learn how to empower, prepare and deal with many forms of violence. We will do this through the development of physical technique defense skills and awareness, understanding the stress response, what kind of body language and emotions could cause us to be more likely victimized, understanding personal safety and security, recognizing emotions, trauma care, understanding our senses, and the importance of taking care of our bodies. The intention of this course is to educate participants about options for action and to heighten their sense of awareness and understanding of how to stay safe through personal proactive security and safety skills and knowledge.
