Corequisites: None Description: This course is an introduction to the science of nutrition and its oral and systemic relevance to dental hygiene patient care. Students also learn the composition and formation of soft and hard deposits and their relation to nutritional aspects of caries, gingivitis and periodontal disease. Students spend time studying methods for preventing oral disease through patient education and behavior modification techniques.
