Description: The course examines populations, communities, ecosystems and biomes through lecture, laboratory and field experiences. Major areas of concentration include the interaction of ecology and evolution, population dynamics, interspecific interactions, community structure, biological diversity, succession, biomes, primary productivity and energy flow. The course requires the student to use basic mathematical skills including exponents and logs. Students are required to provide their own transportation to and from field site locations.  College level proficiency in reading, reading comprehension, and writing is strongly encouraged prior to enrolling in this course.
