Corrections Certificate

This Certificate program prepares students to serve as adult corrections officers in prisons. The Michigan Department of Corrections gives hiring preference to candidates who have completed a degree or occupational certificate in Corrections. These five courses have been approved by the Michigan Department of Corrections and will serve as the minimum requirements that will allow candidates to apply for the entry level position of Corrections Officer. It also serves to enhance the skills of people currently employed in correctional settings.The Correctional Officer Training Act requires that specific college courses and academy training are necessary in order to certify individuals as correctional officers. Students are advised to discuss specific requirements with the GRCC Corrections Training Coordinator before enrolling. 

In order to successfully earn the Michigan Corrections Officer Training Council Certificate, a C or Higher must be earned in each course in this certificate program.

This program is not eligible for Federal Financial Aid.
