Academic Program Code: 524
The Writing Pre-Major delivers a flexible curriculum that allows students to determine their own course of study based on the Writing bachelor’s degree they plan to pursue at a 4-year institution. The Writing Pre-Major supports the development of writing skills and abilities for all areas of creative, professional, and personal interests. Students who complete this Pre-Major will find themselves prepared to transfer into a bachelor's degree program in writing, preparing them for the writing demands in academic and workforce settings. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in writing can consider careers in professional writing, technical writing, creative writing, science and medical writing, business writing, publication, and journalism, to name a few. Students declaring a Pre-Major in Writing are on a path to both an Associate of Arts degree from GRCC and to transfer to a 4-year college or university.
