CDA 109 - Program Management and Professionalism


Description
This course is designed for students who are working in the early childhood field to complete the CDA formal training hours related to Competency Standard V and VI, Program Management and Professionalism. Students develop resource collection components for their professional portfolio, write the competency standards and demonstrate knowledge related to the functional areas: program management and professionalism.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Each student will provide the following record keeping forms: including accident reports, emergency forms and a complete observation form documenting a developmental process.

2. Each student will list state agency responsible for regulation of child care centers, and each student will provide copies of qualification requirements for personnel.

3. Each student will create a list of 3 Early Childhood Associations and describe the professional resources and membership opportunities they each provide.

4. Each student will provide a summary of legal requirements in the state of Michigan regarding child abuse/neglect and mandatory reporting.

5. Each student will write a reflective statement about CDA Competency Standard V, ensuring a well-run purposeful program that is responsive to participant needs including the functional area: program management.

6. Each student will write a reflective statement about CDA Competency Standard VI, maintaining a commitment to professionalism, including a summary of the most important components of professionalism.
