CDA 107 - Promoting Physical and Intellectual Competence


Description
This course is designed for students who are working in the early childhood field to complete the CDA formal training hours related to Competency Standard II: Advancing Physical and Intellectual Competence. Students develop resource collection components for their professional portfolio, write the competency standard, and demonstrate knowledge related to the functional areas: physical, cognitive, communication, and creative development.

  1. Each student will write learning experiences for each of the following curricular areas: Science/Sensory, Language and Literacy, Creative Arts, Fine Motor, Gross Motor, and Mathematics.
  2. Each student will write a reflective Statement about CDA Competency Standard II, Advancing Physical and Intellectual Competence, including the four functional areas: physical, cognitive, communication, and creative.
  3. Each student will identify developmentally appropriate equipment, learning experiences, and teaching strategies to promote the physical, cognitive, communication, and creative development of all children.
