CIS 217 - Java Programming II


Description
This course exposes students to the more advanced features of Java Programming. Students write programs that use object-oriented techniques to implement exception handling, multithreading, network communication, and database interaction. Students are provided an opportunity to solve real world problems. Java programs are used to develop applications that rely heavily on object-oriented techniques.

  1. Design and implement object-oriented applications that incorporate abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism.
  2. Develop programs that manage data and system interaction through input/output operations, exception handling, and multithreading.
  3. Create applications that use graphical user interfaces, graphics, and event-driven programming to support user interaction.
  4. Build software that communicates over networks using sockets and exchanges data with databases through JDBC.
  5. Apply modern Java features, including the Stream API and other advanced tools, to write efficient, scalable, and data-driven programs.
