Description
In this course, students learn how to work and troubleshoot computer and networking hardware commonly used in the small office/home office (SOHO) environment. Topics include motherboard components, memory, storage devices, expansion cards, PC connection interfaces, display devices, mobile devices, printers and monitors. Students devote time to troubleshooting PCs, laptops, and networking components.

The course is also intended to serve the needs of individuals seeking to pass the Computing Technology Industry Association’s (CompTIA) A + certification exam.

Configure and apply PC hardware including motherboard components,RAM, expansion cards, storage devices, connection interfaces, and appropriate power supplies.
Evaluate types and features of display devices and connector types, cables, and peripheral devices.
Identify types and characteristics of different network cables and connectors.
Explain properties and characteristics of TCP/IP, specifically TCP and UDP.
Compare and contrast wireless networking standards and encryption types in order to install, configure, and deploy wireless routers with appropriate settings.
Install and configure laptop and desktop hardware and components.
Explain the differences between various printer types and summarize the associated imaging process.
Given different scenarios, use appropriate safety procedures to operate a PC and a computer network.
Develop a plan to implement a solution to a problem or issue.
Identify quality sources for data and information pertinent to a problem or issue being examined.
