Description
This course prepares students to create captivating imagery in a professional studio environment. Following industry standards, students will learn best practices for studio lighting equipment with an emphasis on personal and equipment safety procedures. Students will utilize a variety of lighting equipment including constant and strobe lighting systems and related accessories. Lighting theory is expanded upon from PO 102 while exploring lighting for portraiture, still life, product, and experimental applications in contemporary fine art and commercial contexts.

2. Analyze lighting setups used in other photographs and be able to closely replicate the setup

4. Create professional quality images that demonstrate the ability to precisely control lighting
5. Identify a wide variety of light modifiers and describe the shape, quality, and figurative connotations of the light it produces
6. Combine strobe and constant lighting to create complex images
7. Efficiently cull, edit, and present images via web gallery for client review
8. Identify and employ optimal lighting for an object based on its material
