Description
This course introduces students to the world of video and film production. Course topics include: fundamentals of time-based media, story development, video capture with mirrorless and DSLR cameras, lighting for film, microphones and audio recording techniques, editing, delivery considerations, and exploring personal and professional marketplace opportunities. Students are required to have a mirrorless or DSLR camera capable of recording video in manual exposure mode, memory card, and an external USB storage device.

- Identify, explain, and demonstrate the use of different resolutions and frame rates on a film or video project
- Use a mirrorless or DSLR camera to capture footage that is color accurate, in focus, and exposed well
- Demonstrate the proper use of lavalier and shotgun microphones to capture quality audio recordings
- Incorporate supplemental lighting to a scene to ensure proper exposure and contrast, and to influence mood
- Plan a short project using scripts, story boards, location scouting, and other pre-production documents and techniques
- Use industry standard editing software to create completed projects with excellent imagery, sound, color, and story
