MUS 191 - Chamber Choir


Description
An advanced choir ensemble consisting of a group of 8 - 20 vocalists selected by audition. Repertoire for the ensemble will be varied and include choral literature from the Renaissance through the 21st century. A successful audition is required for enrollment in the course.

  1. Demonstrate appropriate chamber vocal performance practice appropriate for small ensembles, distinguishing between solo vocal technique, large ensemble technique, and small ensemble technique.
  2. Apply appropriate  performance practices based on historical and cultural context. 
  3. Recognize musicological frameworks around the diverse social, historical, cultural and geographical backgrounds of the repertoire. 
  4. Demonstrate rehearsal and performance protocols consistent with professional vocal ensembles. 
  5. Apply feedback to practice and prepare individual parts for improvement outside of class time.
