This is an introductory course covering the lines, views, dimensions, and notes used on blueprints in the machine trades. Free-hand sketching is also incorporated.

  1. Given an object, the student will create accurate multiview (orthographic) drawings using correct view placement and projection methods.

  2. Given a drawing, the student will apply proper dimensions and scale to fully describe the object.

  3. Given an object or drawing, the student will identify and represent common features such as fillets, rounds, T-slots, and dovetail slots.

  4. Given an object, the student will produce and interpret section views that accurately represent internal features and materials.

  5. Given a print with shop notes and symbols, the student will interpret and explain manufacturing operations and requirements.

  6. Given mechanical drawings, the student will identify corrections, revisions, and answer related print interpretation questions.
