- List and describe the various roles of management and the overall organization of correctional facilities at the local, county, state and federal level.
- Examine the human concerns related to custodial care including food service and clothing requirements.
- Compare and contrast the major concerns related to safety and security in correctional facilities at all levels: the courts; prisoner records; procedures for contraband; personal and property shakedowns; prisoner movement, the use of force; escape concerns; emergency control issues; transportation and housing units.
- Explain prisoner rights and pre-release programs available to inmates.
- Identify, assess, and explain the future concerns of incarceration in America.
- Consider the context, costs, benefits and consequences of potential solutions to problems or issues.
- Use rules or frameworks to provide context for and understand problems or issues.
- Identify ethical dilemmas associated with environmental, social or cultural issues.
