EXS 203 - The Obesity Epidemic


Description
Obesity is a global health issue. This course explores the obesity and overweight issues facing our nation. Topics include causes, consequences, choices, our children, and challenges. Physical fitness and health behaviors will be introduced, as well as obesity prevention and intervention strategies to begin building a healthy lifestyle.

  2. Create a presentation to give on obesity risk factors.
  3. Compare and contrast genetic factors versus environmental factors of obesity.
  4. Create and apply an exercise and eating plan to prevent obesity that is realistic for your individual lifestyle.
  5. Develop a personal understanding of the weight of our nation.
  6. Know and use active listening skills. 
  7. Make effective presentation, formatting and stylistic choices when developing a communication.
  8. Develop a plan to implement a solution to a problem or issue. 
  9. Use creativity and alternative thinking to brainstorm new ideas and possible solutions to problems or issues. 
  10. Identify ethical dilemmas associated with environmental, social or cultural issues.
