AR 129 - Architectural 3D CAD


Description
Students learn how to create a 3D model of a building using Autodesk Revit Architecture software, and are introduced to architectural terminology. From this model, a basic set of drawings is produced.This is a starter course in the Architectural Programs and for Building Information Modeling (BIM).

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Create a 3D model of a building using Building Information Modeling software.

2. Add details to the model so 2D building drawing sheets can be generated.

3. Review and revise building drawing sheets to make sure they communicate the information needed.

4. Be able to assemble a 3D model in a timely manner and generate 3D building drawing sheets.

5. Complete work accurately, with attention to detail. 

6. Manage time effectively.

Course Outline:
I. Create a 3D Model using BIM

A. Create a floor plan with walls

B. Add door and windows and roofs and floors to walls

C. Add stairs and railings to model

D. Add furniture and equipment to model

II. Add Detail Information to Model

A. Add dimensions and annotation to floor plans and elevation 

B. Cut sections and add detail information to section

C. Add door, room, and window information to schedules

III. Photographing a Building

A. Adding and adjusting cameras

B. Adding entourage and plantings to models

C. Rendering the building and creating image files

IV. Create Drawings

A. Use BIM to generate the 2D Drawings

B. Print a building drawing set for instruction and students to review
