Corequisites: None Description: This course explores the history of and historical developments around science, medicine, and disease from ancient civilizations through the modern day. This course offers students the opportunity to study the history of science, medicine, and disease; the historical and changing social constructions of science, medicine, disease and the body; and historical approaches to public health and policy. In addition, students develop their understanding of history and science in general and the methodologies and theories around traditional, medical, and scientific history; become familiar with the methods of historical analysis; strengthen their research and writing skills; and develop a capacity to weigh various debates surrounding historical problems as well as to judge their relevance to the present.
