Corequisites: None Description: This is an introductory course in American government and politics. Students learn the theoretical and historical foundation of American government and the basic structure of institutions set forth in the Constitution. Utilizing current events, students begin to understand the relationship - and power struggle - between the states and the federal government, interest groups and political parties, and citizens. Students learn the impact that government has on our every-day lives through civil liberties and civil rights issues.
