Corequisites: None Description: This course is designed to provide students with a broad introduction to the study of the political, social, economic, and legal structures of China and Japan, with an emphasis on history and culture of these two great civilizations. All this can only be meaningfully understood in their own psychological development, cultural setting, and conceptual framework. China and Japan hold significant weight in the balance of power of the world. As such, their relationship with and the role of the United States in East Asia will be explored and discussed.
