Corequisites: None Description: Students study children’s literature of African American, Native American, Latino, Asian, Jewish, and Middle Eastern cultures. Genres include traditional literature, poetry, historical fiction, nonfiction, and contemporary literature. Through their studies, students develop a heightened awareness of the needs of people living in a multicultural society. Students also learn how to recognize stereotypes found in multicultural literature and learn how to select authentic, worthwhile multicultural literature for children.
